According to The Times, Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Manchester United to allow him to leave the club if he receives a suitable offer during the summer transfer window.
The 37-year-old striker wants to compete for more trophies and if he stays at Old Trafford he will make his Europa League debut in 20 years.
Ronaldo, who has won the Champions League five times, does not like the situation in the Europa League. So if a potential club qualifies for the Champions League and offers trophies, Jorge Mendes will urge his player to move.
The potential for Ronaldo to leave is a huge blow for Eriksen Huck, who has decided to play for him. With Allen Harlan and Darwin Newcastle already in contention, there is little choice but to replace Ronaldo.
Here are the five most suitable players.
(1) Victor Osimhen.
Italian club Napoli, who have qualified for the Champions League, have also been linked with a move for Ronaldo. If Ronaldo is interested in a move there, United should ask Osimhen as part of the move. The 23-year-old striker has scored 28 goals in 62 appearances in two seasons in Italy.
(2) Robert Lewandowski.
The Poland striker is just like Ronaldo. After eight years at the Allianz Arena, it has been reported that he wants to leave Bayern Munich. Barcelona are currently the most popular club to sign him. Lewandowski has scored 344 goals in 375 appearances for Bayern.
Manchester United are also rumored to be in talks with the PSG star over the future of the Brazil international. But Neymar is not the type of player that Tinhak wants to build. Of all the possible Ronaldo replacements, Neymar is the least likely and the most risky.
(4) Hugo Ekitike.
The young French striker has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but has yet to make an impact. The 20-year-old Reims striker scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 last season.
(5) Timo Werner.
The German striker is currently facing difficult times at Stamford Bridge, while Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Stalin. Timo Werner could be sold as he tries to bring in Rafinha.
